Helping Social Sport Grow in Newcastle: We Need a New Home

June 11, 2026 - 2 days ago

After 7 years in Newcastle, we’ve reached an important milestone and a real turning point.

What started as a small, local effort to get people moving, meeting others, and enjoying social sport has grown into something much bigger than we could have imagined. Week after week, more people have shown up, more teams have formed, and more of the community has found a place to belong through sport. That kind of growth is exactly what we set out to encourage.

The problem?

But with that growth comes a new challenge: we’ve simply outgrown our current venues. We now need access to more indoor venues with reliable availability and enough space to keep up with the demand from our community.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that if we want to keep welcoming new participants, keep games running smoothly, and maintain the inclusive, community-first atmosphere we value, we need access to new spaces that can support what social sport in Newcastle has become.

We need your help

If you know of a venue we could hire, please get in touch. We’d genuinely love to hear from you and explore any options that might be possible.

We’re particularly interested in school halls. If you’re a teacher, staff member, or connected to a school that has a hall available for community hire, we’d really appreciate your help in opening that conversation. We’ve reached out to a number of schools across the area already, but we’re still struggling to find venues that can accommodate what we do.

All we’re trying to do is keep growing something that works, an accessible, welcoming social sport experience that so many people in Newcastle now rely on each week to stay active, meet others, and feel part of a community. We want to take that experience further, into more areas, so that no matter where you live in Newcastle, you still have the chance to be part of it.

If you can help or know someone who can we’d love to hear from you.
